Rachel and Emily... a Thanksgiving tradition at GrinderHouse. These sisters are so talented & their harmonies will touch all ages!

The Restless is a female led sister duo composed of sisters Rachal and Emily Schmieder. The Restless make music that is rich with soulful storytelling lyrics, harmony, and conveys a positive message to listeners.

Growing up, sisters Rachal and Emily developed a love for music and performance independently. Rachal performed at school talent shows, and throughout her community in Portland, TN, and learned to play guitar at the age of 14. Emily became a regular performer in school, and played the role of Ariel (Footloose) and Dorothy (The Wizard of Oz) in the community of Franklin, Kentucky’s theater productions.

Harmony became a big part of their creative process, with background singing in church, theater, and choir.  The sisters later collaborated as “The Restless,” to accompany each other at shows, and began playing everywhere they could. Prior to graduating high school, The Restless had performed numerous times throughout the Tennessee and Kentucky region. The sisters became regular guests on WSM radio live, local news stations, and were honored to perform the National Education Summit at The Galt House Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky.

The Restless‘ song “If these walls could talk“ (mixed by Pat Lassiter… mastered by Josh Northwood) has gained over 70,000 online streams, and contains the storytelling songwriting tactic that the duo is known for.  The Restless are now based in Nashville, Tennessee. Currently, The Restless are working towards completing a new EP project, containing what they believe to be their best music yet.

Rachal Schmieder is a 2022 Belmont University Alumni were she earned a BA in Music Business. Emily is currently a student at Belmont University majoring in Music Business. She also releases original music with her worship team at Generation Church.

This week's show features Molly Moore with music from Peking Duk, Notelle, Kula Shaker, 408, Dancing on Tables, Little Hurt, Wilderado, Glume, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Puscifer, Crosses, and Motherland! Hosted by Cousin Corey.

Molly MooreThis week's menu  we feature a New York native who now is a singer-songwriter & producer based in Los Angeles, California, Molly Moore!  Molly Moore is a songstress who’s music speaks to a 5G generation. With straight-shooting lyrics, soulful timbre, & a psychedelically spun style, Molly effortlessly transcends eras. Through her raw thoughts & genuine anthems, Molly has embraced the changes in her life. From the unexpected passing of her father & the turbulent ending of a five-year relationship; Molly’s music serves as a vehicle for finding one's voice and discovering the light within.  Born in the Bronx to a musician as a father and a healer as a mother, Moore was raised in a eclectic household in Hastings on Hudson, NY. Inspired by strong female artists like Aretha Franklin, Alanis Morissette, Beyonce & Gwen Stefani, Moore leans into her powerful vocal prowess & introspective lyricism alongside lush musical landscapes. At 18, Moore graduated from high school 6 months early to focus on recording music. The next year, she moved to Los Angeles & began pursuing a career as a songwriter. Molly started releasing music independently, receiving strong support from Spotify, iTunes & tastemaker blogs which caused the first single to go viral & chart in many territories. While carving out a career as a solo artist, Moore is also ½ of the progressive pop duo Cosmos & Creature with EMAN8 (Brandyn Burnette). As a young female in the music industry, Moore has bigger dreams than just her budding music career. Now at the forefront of the independent music scene, Molly hopes to be a strong voice for female entrepreneurs. Whether it’s for herself, for another artist, or for her community, Molly is making a difference. Cousin Corey talks with her on this week's Blue Plate Special
