8/27/2022 - Ground N The Round at The Grinder House

Published August 27, 2022

Grinder House Productions presents "Ground N The Round" with host Jamie Adamson.  Every month, Jamie will make the expedition up the Plateau and will introduce us to some of the best writers in all of Tennessee. He has shared stages with some and written songs with many. The stories are enthralling, tapestries woven into song. So intimate, it's like being in your own living room.

Special Guests this month include Ryan Larkins and Janelle Arthur.

Megan Barker

Ryan Larkins was born and raised in Nashville where he “caught the bug”—picking up the guitar and starting to write his own songs at age twelve. Ryan frequently performed at church, and there he learned to master the stage. In 2009, Ryan competed in the television singing competition show on CMT, Can You Duet, where he and his singing partner finished in third place. Memorably, the duo stood out when they surprised judges by singing the classic “Tennessee Waltz,” while other groups opted for contemporary selections.
Two years later, Ryan released his original EP, Follow Me, and followed up with an acoustic project in 2013. In the spring of 2017, Ryan competed and won first place in WSM’s Road Show Talent Competition. As he did in the television competition, Ryan performed country classics “That’s the Way Love Goes” by Merle Haggard and “When You Say Nothing At All” by Keith Whitley.
Clearly, Ryan has a solid foundation in traditional country music; however, it is not his only musical influence. He covers songs in the pop, gospel, and R&B genres, as well, and these influences are apparent in his original compositions. The range of songwriters he has worked with over the years also showcase his musical interests across genres and within country music. He has worked with the likes of Jessi Alexander, Country Hall of Fame Member Bill Anderson, Steve Bogard, Scooter Carusoe, Monty Criswell, Tom Douglas, JT Harding, Connie Harrington, Tim Nichols, and Tony Lane.
Ryan recently signed with THiS Music publishing company, a subsidiary of Warner Chappell. A lot of great things are on the horizon.

Janelle Arthur

Rising from her humble roots in the heart of the Smoky Mountains to international exposure as a top finalist on television’s American Idol, Janelle Arthur continues to astound fans with her unyielding songwriting talent, pure and compelling vocals, and her undisputed dominion of the stage.
Janelle is no stranger to the spotlight. She began performing at Dollywood when she was 8 years old portraying one of her musical heroes, a young Dolly Parton. From that time and thousands of shows later, she has had the opportunity to be a guest on The Today Show, The Kelly & Michael Show, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Access Hollywood, and Today in Nashville. Thanks to her loyal followers, her social media fan base is now around 150,000 on combined social media networks.
As an entertainer, Janelle has had the pleasure of opening shows for or performing with: Vince Gill, Rascal Flatts, Craig Morgan, and The Band Perry. Her lifetime dream to perform on the world-famous “Grand Ole Opry” became a reality on June 19, 2013, and she has been a repeated guest many times since then.
As a daughter of the South steeped in family ties, tradition, and truthfulness, Janelle Arthur’s music is reflective of who she is and exemplifies her way of life. As evidence in “Love You Anyway,” a compelling song written by Arthur (featuring multi-Grammy award winner Vince Gill) is honest, persuasive, and real. Her self-titled debut EP including this collaboration is available on Spotify and iTunes.

Jamie Adamson

Jamie Adamson began playing guitar at the age of 13 and like his Grandfather soon was making music on stage. Jamie began playing a snare and hi hat in church along side Ray Thompson from Mobile Alabama and developed that itch that all musicians get! By the time he turned 19 Jamie was playing locally in Mobile at local clubs like Austin's Country Palace, The Wild Wild West, other venues around the south. It wasn't long Jamie was packing his bags and heading north to Nashville where he spent the next 19 years developing his style, his voice, and his writing skills. Jamie shared a stage with greats like Steve Cropper, Jerry Waddell, Blind Mississippi Morris, Mark Collie, Terry Lee Burns, and Steve Saunders. All these talented individuals shared their love for music with Jamie and helped him build a solid foundation that will carry him through the rest of his career. So, if you love music, real honest music, with heartfelt lyrics, just take a listen and you will hear the difference.
Every month, Jamie will make the expedition up the Plateau to introduce us to some of the best writers in all of Tennessee. He has shared stages with some and written songs with many. The stories are enthralling, tapestries woven into song. So intimate, it's like being in your own living room. Once Experienced. Never Forgotten.
