WestWend is an Americana/country duo comprised of Jonathan Maness (guitar, vocals) and Wendy Crowe (vocals). Established in 2011 in Knoxville, Tennessee, they perform and record new traditional country music. With Jonathan’s roots in bluegrass and Wendy’s roots stemming from the Delta blues, classic country, and Motown, they have come together to create a sound all their own.

WestWend’s latest CD, “Linger For A While”, takes bluegrass standards and makes them new again, while their originals capture their audience with a traditional flavor. Wendy’s voice has been best compared to Alison Krauss, while Jonathan’s rich baritone and agile flatpicking are well known to audiences on both sides of the Atlantic. WestWend has performed at some of the biggest festivals in the United States and Europe including: the Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion, the National Cornbread Festival, the St. Augustine Seafood festival, the Pensacola Great Gulf Festival and more. A small-town girl with a big-time faith whose talent, look and voice conjures up memories of a young Carrie Underwood, Ava currently finds herself on the cusp of country music stardom.
And for good reason.
The 22-year-old with the fresh sound and addicting spirit likes to say she was born to play music. Her grandfather plays the guitar, her parents once served as worship leaders and everyone around her sings…. everyone. In fact, as a little girl, Ava would sing so much that her mom often found herself politely asking her talented daughter to stop, for even just a moment, so they could sit down at the table and at least enjoy a dinner together in peace.
Ava’s current single, “He’s Like a Habit,” brings with it a playful energy and an undeniable spunk that will soon infuse the country music industry with a youthful spirit not seen since the early days of Taylor Swift. And the song with the infectious hook also reminds us that, despite the weight of an ongoing pandemic, it’s still fun to be young and there is still fun to be had.
And Ava wants the world to feel that fun again.
