FLORENCE, Ala. — Every year, thousands of people gather along the Tennessee River for an event that has become one of North Alabama's most beloved traditions. Rally at the River is more than just a weekend festival. It is a celebration of community, music, fellowship, and a shared commitment to helping children and families facing some of life's toughest battles.

Held annually at McFarland Park in Florence, Alabama, Rally at the River was founded in 2002 by Peggy McCollum and a dedicated group of volunteers with a simple but powerful mission: raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. More than twenty years later, that mission continues to unite motorcycle enthusiasts, musicians, local businesses, vendors, families, and supporters from across the region.

What began as a grassroots fundraising effort has grown into a major community event that attracts visitors from throughout Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, and beyond. The event has become known for its welcoming atmosphere, family-friendly activities, and unwavering dedication to supporting the lifesaving work of St. Jude.

Supporting the Mission of St. Jude

The heart of Rally at the River has always been its commitment to helping the children and families served by St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. St. Jude is internationally recognized for advancing treatments and research for childhood cancers and other life-threatening diseases.

One of the most remarkable aspects of the St. Jude mission is that families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing, or food. That commitment is made possible through the generosity of donors and fundraising events like Rally at the River.

For more than two decades, volunteers, sponsors, entertainers, vendors, and attendees have come together in Florence to help make a difference in the lives of children and families who need hope the most.

A Weekend Filled With Music, Community and Fun

Rally at the River offers something for everyone. Throughout the event, visitors can enjoy live entertainment, food vendors, local merchants, silent auctions, prize giveaways, and activities for all ages.

Motorcycle enthusiasts have long been a major part of the event's identity, with organized rides bringing participants together while supporting a meaningful cause. At the same time, the festival's family-friendly atmosphere ensures that everyone feels welcome, whether they arrive on two wheels or four.

The Power of Local Volunteers

Like many successful charitable events, Rally at the River is built on the dedication of volunteers. Year after year, community members donate countless hours planning activities, coordinating logistics, securing sponsors, organizing auctions, and ensuring that every dollar possible goes toward helping children through St. Jude.

Their commitment demonstrates what can happen when a community comes together around a common purpose. The event's continued success over more than two decades stands as a testament to the generosity and compassion found throughout the Shoals area and surrounding communities.

A Tradition That Continues to Grow

As Rally at the River moves forward, it continues to honor the vision that started the event while inspiring a new generation of supporters. Each year represents another opportunity to raise awareness, generate funding for critical research and treatment, and celebrate the impact that ordinary people can have when they work together.

For many attendees, Rally at the River is more than an annual event. It is a tradition. It is a reunion of friends. It is a chance to enjoy great music, support a worthy cause, and help provide hope to families facing unimaginable challenges.

Most importantly, it serves as a reminder that even small acts of generosity can create a lasting impact.

Why Rally at the River Matters

For more than twenty years, Rally at the River has demonstrated the power of community-driven fundraising. Through music, fellowship, volunteerism, and charitable giving, the event has helped support the mission of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital while creating lasting memories for countless attendees.

As supporters gather once again along the banks of the Tennessee River, the message remains as strong today as it was in 2002: when a community comes together for a cause greater than itself, incredible things can happen.
